On March 12, 2008 Interim Councilwoman Mitchell presented legislation to Cleveland City Council to allow Cleveland Clinic to build on the South side of Cedar Ave. between E. 100 and E. 101 streets.  Years ago Cleveland Clinic promised not to build on the south side of Cedar Ave. On Friday April 4, 2008 the zoning board approved the building of a research center between E. 100 and E. 101 and Cedar Ave.  The Fairfax Renaissance Development Corp. (FRDC) claims they are putting up millions of dollars to build the research center and lease it out to Cleveland Clinic.

We wonder why FRDC is so concerned about so called NON-PROFIT multi-million dollar Cleveland Clinic yet the residents of Ward 6 could not receive funding or grants to repair their homes or to avoid foreclosure. Make no mistake, we will no longer allow the Cleveland Clinic to gentrify, remove or displace our residents. It makes you wonder whether or not the existence of high concentration of foreclosure, abandoned homes and vacant lots in Ward 6 is a direct result of the collusion between the FRDC, the interim Councilwoman and the Cleveland Clinic is a planned abandonment designed to lower and cheapen property values so that FRDC could acquire them at no cost and GIVE them to the Cleveland Clinic.

We can no longer allow the gentrification of Ward 6. There will be another zoning meeting on this issue soon and if passed, the issue will go to the Cleveland City Council for a vote and if passed Mayor Frank Jackson will sign it.

Please check back on this web site for further information on the next zoning meeting date and time on this VERY IMPORTANT ISSUE. Please plan to attend to voice your objection.

If this is allowed this time, rest assured that they will continue deeper by building more into our residential community.

The time is NOW, you have the opportunity to change the course by electing John A. Boyd as a councilman for Ward 6 on April 22nd, 2008.
